is an event in conjunction with Valentine's Day, held on the 11th of February at night.

There will be a candlelight dinner, a live romantic comedy and a best dressed competition!

So what have we done in 2011?

some nerds celebrating other people's birthdays,

a time of encountering God,

Mr. Jared taking over services,

a really epic Youth Sunday,

The weirdest night of the year,

a handphone given away.

celebrating our beloved pastor's birthday,

bid farewell to some of our friends,

(ooh look at us commitee! we look pretty!)

a Christmas eve barbecue party, and so so much more.

Time flies too fast, and the year draws to a close.
Events passed, weeks journeyed.
Let us remember the one reason we did all this;
and the reason that made this all happen- Jesus.

Let's take a moment to thank God for this beautiful year and pray for a brighter, better one next year.
By the way, the committee has already planned some great things for us too!

Blessed Christmas once again!

Here's the pictures from yesterday's BBQ Party! :)

The result of our wonderful cooks' sweat and bakarness?

Gorgeous meat and fat burgers :) Great job guys!

Besides stuffing ourselves, we also had a special performance by Krystal (and band)!

And of course, what's Christmas without worshipping God? :)

After that we played a group game.. Remember this, ALFAians?

I think we all had fun and were shocked at that.. luxury teddy bear XP

After a close battle between Group 5 and 2, Group 5 emerges as the winner!

Congratulations Group 5!

And of course here comes the best time of the event: GIFT EXCHANGE TIME!

We all exchanged presents happily and went home with full tummies and full hats :)

I'm sure you all had fun throughout this event!

A big thank you to all those involved that made this BBQ a fun time for everyone!

Weird Night II!

Weird Night II - The Final Destination.

A night where a few people realize where they truly lie, beyond the grave.

Many souls overtaken by pride, by greed.

Some even overrun by worldly possessions, but they all realize in the end that it doesn't matter.

What really matters most is, where will you go after death?

On that night, a good hundred people turned up to watch the performance!

Naturally, they filled up all the seats in our hall!

And thank God- it wasn't even raining that night despite the stormy day before! :D

We would like to thank all of you who had so graciously taken your time to attend this event,

and we hope you had a great time!

And right now you might be wondering, who were the two blessed people who managed to walk away with that canggih phone and mp3 player? ;)

Jared the robot managed to win the best dressed award for his fancy robot costume (complete with lights!)!

It has really been a blessing to LifeWire and to every one of us.

We really couldn't imagine youth without you!

Being the over-dramatic, sneaky, playful and most importantly the God loving man you are!

Age is just the number of years that the world has been enjoying you.

Encounter Fest - Week Four

Last week was our last week of Encounter Fest!

And surprise surprise! We had a full band this time (not pictured in photo) , to end it up with a bang! :)

Here some photos of the simulation that took place! :)

We were all given blindfolds and tied our hands and place randomly in the whole floor.

Yes, really randomly.

So- the senario is this.

Our building's on fire, we're all terribly blind, and only one person knows that the building's on fire.

So this one person would have to find her way to other people and tell them to find other people and get them to move. Not too easy when you're blindfolded and your hands are tied!

To make things worse, we just can't seem to open any door without the 'Holy Spirit''s help.

Conveniently, these 'Holy Spirits' (a few people) are nice friendly beings

and occasionally give directions for you and open doors for you, of course.

Once you think you've gotten everybody saved, you may work your way out the building, and you'll be saved.

Simple!

Lots of flailing, lots of prompting, lots of zombie-ing around. Beautiful! :)

In this brand new simulation we learned about faith, trust, and patience.

To overcome obstacles in our lives, we mustn't be afraid to ask the Holy Spirit to aid us,

and we must have trust and believe in Him to overcome our obstacles in life, and our physical boundaries.

I think we've all learned a good lesson on the Holy Spirit here right? haha!

It has truly been an amazing month hasn't it? :)

Just remember that this does not mark the end of encountering God,

but merely a beginning to even more great encounters with God, amen?

Encounter Fest - Week 3

Hello everybody! :)

Last week's Encounter Fest was themed Faith.

Faith. To believe in something that you cannot see nor predict.

Something Peter had when he walked on water towards Jesus on that stormy day.

The Word of God was shared by none other than Mr.Jared Yeoh for the first time!

A really inspiring message from God telling us to believe in Him. :)

We also had a skit about a geek who wants to win a boxing competition, but has no faith to do so.

Encounter Fest - Week Two

Hey handsome guys and pretty girls!

For those of you who missed out last week's session, here's how it went!

But first, do you see that the candles below actually form a pattern?

It actually symbolizes the Golden Lampstand (google it!) which represents the presence of God. :)

The worship was awesome, as it really got us into the heart of worship.

The Holy Spirit was moving so strongly among us, Pastor Willard even started prophesying for some of us!

That moment, we could really feel the presence of God there. It was like, WOW.

Words cannot describe that feeling, it was just amazing.

Like God was comforting us, saying everything is fine.

This weeks message was about making the Holy Spirit your BEST friend.

Even best-er than your best-erest buddy!

I mean, who better to have as your best friend than God Himself?

Make Him your best friend, and He'll surely be there to guide you through your life,

because He knows best and His ways are higher than our ways.

So in all things, look to God! :)

PS: The Kidz Talent Show was awesome! Who knew our kids had so much talent?

Kids are so talented nowadays!

Encounter Fest - Week 1

It’s been a long time hasn’t it?

A long time since we’ve really gone back to basics.

It’s been a long time since we’ve really sat down and focused on God, and nothing else.

Well, this month is what it’s all about. It’s about tuning it all down and stripping it all down to the bare minimum.

The first week started with us worshipping God with just 2 guitars.

I don’t know about you, but I truly felt the presence of God moving in that place.

The worship session was definitely simple, but so powerful.

Pastor Willard talked about sacrifice. He gave us an envelope and in it were 12 things that we can’t live without, including Jesus and life itself. Whenever we got a question wrong, we had to give up something. We had to give up everything except for ‘Jesus’, and ‘life itself’.

And we had to make a decision to sacrifice your own life for Jesus, or sacrifice Jesus for an easy life. This led us to writing down what we would want to sacrifice for God and writing down our expectations for the whole month.

Everybody wrote and then they proceeded to the prayer room, which had a string hanging there, and we were to pin our paper on the string.

The string was filled with paper and clothes pegs which glowed underneath the UV lights. It was simply beautiful.

Knowing that God is there looking at the papers and smiling, telling us that He will truly help keep us and that He will be there for us, was really the icing on the cake.

It was such a simple event, but yet one so powerful.

But we were all so focused on seeing God move, and I believe that He did move in that place on that very day.
Praise Jesus for everything!

Last week was kinda dedicated to this tall, sweet-eating monster who flew to Australia!

Benjy, Bryan, Su Jean and Reuben even prepared a 'touching' song for him! So sweet!

And the youths gave him a big bowl of sweets for him to get diabe- I MEAN to enjoy :)

Missions Trip to Kuala Pilah

Hey guys!

Here's a quick recap of what happened during our mission trip to Kuala Pilah! :)

Our super macho guys (and girl) carrying the donation items in.

And for you jakun city people- LOOK! WILDLIFE!

(yes we saw a real snake. our crazy photographer insisted on taking a shot before running XP)

The local pastor there!

So we arrived safely in the village after a few hours, and unloaded all our things in their small but cozy hall.
We then proceeded to have a little icebreaker with them - Forest Fire! or rather, api hutan?

Then we had a wonderful praise and worship session, and a really encouraging testimony from Rachel!

Also, Chelsia debuted with her first original Malay song, titled 'KuasaMu'! Such talent we have! :)

And of course, what is missions without the Word?

Don't play-play. Pastor can speak pretty fluent BM okay!

Then we presented a skit for them. Does anybody still remember Inheritance? :)

Well, they definitely enjoyed the skit very much!

Then we had an altar call to pray down the power of God to these people!

We then blessed them with the donations!

They were all very touched by our donations, especially the children!

After that, the orang asli oh-so graciously cooked up a delicious lunch for us!

Pity they didn't cook the snake/worm/etc we saw earlier hmm?

Mm, good food!

Apparently, the spider man sign is pretty popular here among the kids.

All in all, we had a great time over there, speaking in broken BM,
being jakun over bamboo shoots, and of course, blessing the people there.

LifeWire Youth would like to thank all those who have donated and supported us
for our missions trip from the bottom of our hearts.

Missions Trip - To Bring!

Are you all excited about this Saturday's missions trip to Kuala Pilah? :D

-Bring your Bible!

-Bring at least RM5 over there.

-Bring your props/costumes (for those involved in the skit)

-Bring both your eyes, your nose, your mouth and the rest of your body.

-Be in church by 7:00am! Eat your breakfast first kay?

-Pray that we'll be able to touch lives there!

hari ini supaya apabila kita pergi ke sana, kita dapat berkomunikasi

dengan mereka dengan TERHEBAT SEKALI.

Missions Trip!

Hey people!

Thats right, we'll be having a missions trip to visit our church's outreach in Kuala Pilah, Pahang!

It'll be on the 2nd July 2011, from 7:30am to 5pm!
The registration fee is just RM10, so do sign up with either Chelsia or Abigail by next week.
Limited to 30 people only, so do sign up quick!

And, the church in Kuala Pilah has graciously agreed to cook our lunch!
Who knows, maybe we'll get to eat some yummy beetles too? :)

Also, we'll be accepting donation items as listed above, so if you want to donate,
please stop donation booth on Sundays to bless some lives! :)

Of smoke and slippers

A small recollection of what happened last week-

We played with everyone's smelly slippers..

We blindfolded people and let them wander around aimlessly,

and almost burned down our hall (eek!)

But thank God there was no real fire! XP

Half-way during worship, there was smoke coming out from one of the fluorescent lights and there was a strange smell!

But thank God we noticed it earlier and switched off the lights and aired the place out.

We probably breathed in some bad toxic gas though, but are we going to let some

bad smelling smoke stop us from worshiping God? Never! :)

Church Camp!

C.S.I. Birthday Bash!

Hey everyone!

We actually wanted to just give a nice cake to our fellow birthday babies and sing a song for them,
but before the service started the cake was lost!

So we asked for our very own CSI team to investigate further..
One of the birthday babies could have stolen the cake to eat it all by himself/herself,
so they are all suspects!

Apparently, the thief who stole the cake was wearing clown makeup, so we had to put make up on the suspects for our 'facial recognition test'!

Even though Jeremy looks the most suspicious, the team had to run more tests to be sure!
The thief, according to witnesses, likes a particular dish in a restaurant-
The roti canai tambah dahl tambah curry tambah cili padi special!

And so one by one they tested the birthday babies with this delicious umm mulch.
But even after this, they needed a final test.. so our team interrogated them one by one with their amazing deduction skills!

But even after that, they couldnt find the thief. :(

But then came Jie Irene, walking in with a cake!

Apparently she found it in the fridge outside! Haiyoo CSI team!

Case closed! XP

Lifewire Beach Outing!

Helloooo people!

And to all those who went to the beach last week - enjoying your gorgeous darker shade? :)

On that day it was raining heavily back in Subang, but it didn't rain at the beach! Amazing isn't it? :)

On one fine day, Lifewire took a busload of Lifewire members to a land far far away.. (not really lah)

A land,

filled with sand,

and skirted with water.

All we could was ponder,

What lies beyond the yonder.

Then we saw a signpost

On it was written,

Sepang Gold Coast.

Okay maybe that's a bit too dramatic. haha! Moving on!

We played lots of crazy games, led by our amazing games coordinator BENJY!

(yes, that hot chick in sexy pink above)

After the games, we were given free time to play!

Some played football..

Some played with the sand..

And of course, what's beach games without beach volleyball?

And some even decided to torment some poor crabs. (leave the little crabs alone!)

For some reason, there were LOADS of these little crabs everywhere.

All in all, I think we all had great fun at the beach yes yes? :D

A huge thank you to Jared who took care of us on that day!

Look at him, all tired out even before the event is over!

Mm-hmm! We're going to the beach! :D

On the 16th of April, LifeWire Youth will be going to Sepang Gold Coast for an outing!

We're going to have lots of amazing beach games there, have a little picnic, and lots of fun!

The details are the following:

Date : 16th April 2011

Time : 7:30a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Venue : Sepang Gold Coast (meet in church first!)

Fee : RM7 per person

Transport and breakfast will be provided, however you have to bring your OWN lunch there!

Also take note that the registration ends on the 10th of April 2011, so please register soon!

Limited spaces available! :)

Things to bring:

- Some pocket money

- IC

- Your own lunch

- Extra change of clothes

- Sunblock

- Water bottle

- Sun shades

- Cap

-*optional* Sandcastle building stuff

LifeWire Retreat 2011!

Hey everyone!

From the 14th March to the 16th March LifeWire Youth had a lovely retreat to Cheefoo, Cameron Highlands!

And after 3 days of a good time together, we conclude that this year's camp was absolutely AWESOME.

The fires within us ignited once again with the burning love for God, and we truly left the camp feeling alive.

Thank God for such an amazing camp, amen? :)

We will be meeting in LifePoint, SJAOG on the 14th March at 9:00am.

For those who has not paid up in full, please bring along your camp fees and registration form on that day.

Breakfast will not be provided, so please have your breakfast before coming!

Why the new name, you may ask? Why 'LifeWire', and not 'LifeApple'?

God revealed to Pastor Willard to change from ALFA to LifeWire somewhere last year.

As 2011 is a year of many new things, a beginning of a decade, a beginning of our first year in the new building,
and perhaps even a new chapter in our lives.

I believe that God plans to begin something new in this youth group too.

And though we may not know what He has in store for us, I encourage you all to trust Him,

for His ways are perfect, amen? :)

Anyways, this year will be a great year for all of us!

Many events have been lined up by our lovely committee, and coming up in March is our..

LIFEWIRE YOUTH RETREAT!

It'll be on the 14th to 16th of March, at Cheefoo Center, Cameron Highlands,

with the theme: Alive!

So to all those who signed up and registered already, do keep checking back for more updates!

And more importantly, expect an amazing camp this year! :)

Hey ALFAians!

Last Saturday we had our Magical Mamak Christmas!

Mm yes! As you can see we really tried to make this place look as mamak store-ish as possible..

(but of course, we failed miserably because our cafeteria was too nice to be called a mamak store)

inclusive of advertisements stuck on the walls and tables!

Here’s some of the things we did on that night!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We invited this Bulgarian man (or is he?) who spoke with a very Malaysian accent and who looked very much like Samson who was so willing to perform his magic tricks in front of all of us!

He performed a variety of magic tricks, ranging from comical to mysterious, and was even kind enough to reveal some of his tricks to us!

We also had a skit about Christmas, about a boy named Alex, which was really good! Great job actors!

(which we had no pictures of, sorry!)

We also had a gift exchange session, where we saw many people grinning happily as they received a present! Oh the joy of giving and the even greater joy of receiving! :)

Then of course, we had our mamak food! Roti canai, mamak mee, fried chicken.. even complete with dhal and curry!

There was also strangely, a random yam-seng that burst out from nowhere, which everyone instinctively joined in suit. Very strange! XD

But, what was the main thing that made the night so magical, you may ask?

No, it wasn’t the magic show, though it was impressive.

No, it wasn’t the skit either, though it was very good.

No, it wasn’t the gift exchange, even though it was beautiful.

No, it wasn’t the mamak food, that’s for sure.

The true magic of the night was the celebration of Christmas, the greatest day ever.

The Magical Mamak Christmas painted a foot stop to the events of this eventful year.

Let's take a brief moment to think about how God has blessed us throughout this year,

and as we transition through Christmas and to the new year of 2011,

let us trust God in His Plans for each one of us. :)

Do take note ALFA-ians, there will not be youth service for the rest of the year!

Youth service will commence on the 1st of January, 2011! A very nice date, I must say!

A Magical Mamak Christmas!

Helloo everybody!

On the 18th of December, we'll be having our annual Christmas makan with the theme of...

MAGICAL MAMAK CHRISTMAS! =D

What is so magically mamak-y about Christmas you may wonder!

Well as much as I would like to tell you, you really have to be there to find out yourself, people!

And trust me, this event is going to be super cool. No joke.

Mm-hmm! This event is really not something to be overlooked!
Besides, its not every day you hear about magical mamak stores during Christmas! :)

And for the gift exchange-
Please have a heart and don't be so cheapskate lah! You can't go el cheapo on Christmas presents, can you? So your gifts must be worth
at least RM5 okay! :)

Plus, there will be no youth on that Saturday, so book your calenders for this really cool event!

Committee Appreciation Day 2010!

Hello ALFA-ians!

Last week we had our Committee Appreciation Day 2010 to appreciate our good ol' committee! :)

The theme of the day : Pink-urple! (pink and purple)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First off, we started with games by none other than our favorite game master Benjy!

We were split into two groups and lined up in four rows, boys and girls.

The macho men had to spin ten times and waltz over to a table to paint 3 of their nails with pink or purple nail polish. If they were unable to satisfy the judges, they would have to paint ALL their nails!

Look at Nicky painting his nails like a pro! XD

As for the ladies, they had to also spin around ten times, then waltz over to another table to apply all the Kemahiran Hidup skills they've always learnt about in school! They had to hammer in nails into a plank of wood until the judges were satisfied!

The ladies managed to hammer in those nails with no difficulty! If their KH teachers were here to see them they would be so proud of you girls! :D

Next was a short magic show by our very own magician in the house.. SAMSON!

This time he had an assistant (whose hand you can see in the below picture) - Melissa Chan to help him hold the mic! XD

Next some of the youths presented a special skit for the committee!

The youths played the roles of each of the committee members, and I must say, they did it very well!

There was also a very sweet video shown for the committee after that, which made them smile :)

note: the names in the speech bubbles are the names of the committee that actor/actress is portraying, not the names of the actors/actresses :)

But wait a minute, what's committee appreciation day without having some fun with the committee?

So the committee had to sit in a row in front, bracing themselves for some humiliation,

and another row of people had to sit behind the committee, holding a plate and a spoon.

At the way this is going, this does not look good for the committee!

The people behind the committee had to scoop rice and feed the committee. Sounds simple?

But noo! There was a catch!

The catch here is that the person behind the committee must close their eyes, and feed the poor committee in front.

Ah yes, smile while you still can boys!

And so the feeding started..

It was hilarious, as the committee struggled to direct their food into their mouth and to swallow the food fast enough and the feeders accidentally (or deliberately?) spilled food all over the committee.

One complained some rice went into his nose.

Then some nice little mug-fulls of sweets were given to the committee as a small symbol of our thanks,
(which made Shaun the sweet devouring monster very happy)
along with a very big pretty card with sincere gratitude sprinkled onto it.

I think we all had a good time that day, right? :D

Weird Night : Behind the Scenes

Hello ALFA-ians!

While we're still recovering over Weird Night, why don't we take a peek behind the scenes?

Surely all those pumpkins and props had to come from somewhere right?

Well here are some pictures!

Once again, our photographer slacked off and did not take much pictures! Booo!
(nah just kidding! he was pretty busy with the decorations too, so he didn't have time to snap!)

The bloody fingers were all individually made by our F&B Team! Really good job guys (and girls!)

Not just that, they made some really nice signs to tantalize our taste buds! However their choice of words weren't exactly amazing, I would say! :P

The decoration team helped cut out (and hand-draw) all that dozens of pumpkins, a really good job guys!

And yes, they had fun playing/blowing up the balloons too!

Weird Night!

Hello everybodyy!

How was Weird Night?

Well if I can sum it up in one word, it would be: WEIRD. (and really really awesome!)

First and foremost, we would like to give a very big THANK YOU to:

God Almighty, for making this whole event a success! Amen!

Pastor Willard and the ALFA committee for doing so much planning and hard work! Great job!

This event is the first event in our new SJAOG church building, and also the very first event to be held in conjunction to Halloween! It's a first time for us all, but thank God it all went well!

Everyone was required to wear green or orange on that night! But some took it another step further and even dyed their hair green!

That's some enthusiasm there, little miss chatterbox! :)

We had a rather large turnout of more than 100 people, as you can see in the above picture!
Thank you all so much for coming, even though it was in the middle of the exam season! :)

I think all of you guys had fun there right? :)

But all who attended definitely left with a special memory, a special experience.. a very, very weird night to remember. :)

Yes! In conjunction with Weird Night, we are going to have a not-so-secret top-secret kinda cool pumpkin project!
So what is this not-so-secret top-secret kinda cool pumpkin project all about?

It's something like an online flash mob on facebook to promote Weird Night!

On the 20th of October (Wednesday), at exactly 9:30pm, we'll all change our profile pictures on facebook into a pumpkin, like so:

So people will wonder, what's with all these people and their weird obsession with pumpkins?

Then we'll all attack everybody with our new pumpkin display picture with status updates and post on their walls and invite them to come to Weird Night! This will definitely get everybody's attention! :D

Simple, isn't it?
All you need to do is to follow 3 simple steps!

STEP ONE: Save this pumpkin to your computer!
(Right click!)

STEP TWO: Change your facebook profile picture on the 20th of October at 9:30pm!
(be on time, or it won't look as cool!)

STEP THREE: Attack the clueless facebook people! Post status updates, wall posts etc!

YES! WEIRD NIGHT IS HAPPENING!

You really don't want to miss this fantastic event! Why, you ask?

Yup that's right!
Weird night will definitely NOT be your usual ol' Halloween party!
A party thats not Halloween, but yet so Halloweenish?
What's the difference between this party and all the rest? That is one answer that YOU have to find out yourself! :)

This is one life-changing experience you have to experience yourself!

A Balloonny Welcome

WELCOME BACKKKK FELLOW ALFA-ians!!!!! :D

We have recently JUST NEWLY MOVED INTO OUR NEW BUILDING~!!!!
and in the midst of all the construction that is still going on

WE HAD OUR VERY FIRST YOUTH SERVICE
which is also
THE FIRST SERVICE EVER TO BE HELD IN THAT BUILDING

aren't the youth blessed?

owhhh! Wonder what they are doing?

Well, in honour of moving into our new church building, the youth decided to organize a traditional WELCOMING PARTYYY!!! with BALLOOONNNNSSS as the main theme for gamess!!

and the picture above depicts the forfeits! :D

Say hellooo to the youth who showed up that day!! :)

Since the church is new and still currently under construction, we had to do a little cleaning before the service began. No worries though! We were equipped with a vacumm cleaner and brooms!! :)

Everybody chipped in! Kudos to all of you!! ;)

And notice the amount of space we have??

Which of course inspired our game masters, Shaun L. and Benji to come out with a new game with balloonnns!

And this too! another form of amazing teamwork!

Overall, it was a great start to what seems to be a promising future of endless possibilities in the new church building. :)

We will be doing our best to serve God and provide a safe haven for youths around Subang that is Overflowing with Worship, Bonded with Believers, Growing with Time, Serving with Passion & Ready with the Gospel so that they can fulfill God's calling in their generation. :) amen!

Time for Change

Hello all you ALFA-ians!

Last week was our very last week in the old SS13/3C building!

Aww don't be sad people, but thank God we're going to shift into a bigger, better church! Amen?

On that week we played 'Sardines' - a game which involved running around the whole church :)

Before the game began, the game master picked a person to wear a mustache and go hide somewhere in secret!

The objective of the game is for the rest of us to find the hiding place of the one mustache-wearing man, and hide along with him, and the last person who finds the hiding place of the mustache man will be forfeited!

Simple, right? :)

One wise man once said, "A great game is complete when there's a forfeit!"

(nahh just kidding I made that up XD)

And so these here are the blur people who couldn't find the mustache man!

They both sang Mexican songs! (or at least, tried to)

And the worship team for that day! :)

Then we also screened a special video, which you guys can conveniently watch again here! :D

Pastor Willard then shared a short sermon about a new song!
We should learn to leave our past behind, and trust God to lead you to a brighter future :)

Then it was time to fill up the time capsule!

We penned down our letters, dug up some nostalgic items and, for a few, wrapped up some food items

and placed them into the time capsule.

It has really been a long time since we shifted into this building,

many sweet memories we had here..

*sniff* time flies, doesn't it?

A final glimpse into the time capsule..

And at 5:10 pm, 25th September 2010, it was sealed up, and will only be reopened 5 long years later.

Let's take a moment to think.

How will ALFA Youth be different in 2015?

Who, and what will you be then?

What will God be doing in your lives?

As we look into the future, let us trust God with His perfect plan for every one of our lives :)

In fact, its just a couple of roads away haha!

Hello people!

Last week we had a surprise birthday celebration for our beloved pastor, PASTOR WILLARD!

Some of you might be confused and say to yourself, 'Isn't Pastor's birthday next month?'

'Or have I grown old and forgotten!' :O

Fear not, you have NOT grown old nor have you forgotten!

Because Pastor Willard is pretty smart, he'll be expecting us youth to do something sneaky on his birthday, right?

So our clever planning committee had purposely planned this surprise a month earlier to surprise pastor!

We had his wife to lure him out of the sanctuary and upstairs to apparently 'talk about something urgent'..

Then when he walked through the doors, and thats when confetti rained down on him and we all screamed

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

We presented a skit and a video to Pastor, telling him how amazing he has been and how he has touched every one of our lives individually. We hope by now you know that we really love you! =)

In conjunction with the upcoming Mooncake Festival, the planning committee gave pastor a

mooncake in replacement of a birthday cake! 2-in-1 cake! Awesome kan?

We hoped you liked it! *grin*

But of course, we aren't that evil you know!!

So we dragged pastor downstairs (again) for his REAL cake!

We're not so cheapskate okayy! ;D

Pastor celebrated his birthday along with Katherine & Katrina, the only twins in our youth!

Once again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY PASTOR WILLARD!

Okay people! Now I have a very important announcement to make to you ALFA-ians!

Next week, is our LAST week in our current building!

So in conjunction of that, we'll be making a time capsule to store all the fond memories we had in this building!

This time capsule will be closed and will only be reopened in 5 years time!

The time capsule needs filling up, and for that, we need YOUR help!

Here's what you need to do!

Write a letter to your future self (in 5 years time)

and maybe something to remember yourself of youth (for example the dog tag from Revive? remember?)

and bring it to youth on 25th September - this Saturday!

It's just that simple :) (don't forget!)

Time REALLY flies doesn't it?

In other news, ALFA Youth had our ALFA UNITE event last week!! It was a slippery, fun, tiring and cooperative event!! :) Now it is time to prepare yourselves for LIFEGAMEEEE! :D

Birthday Bash-ed!

Hello ALFA-ians!

Last Saturday we had our birthday bash, and it was real fun! :D

If you couldn't make it, here's some pictures of the event :)

First off, games!

We started off with a balloon game, with our game masters Benjy, Reuben and Shaun (not in picture heh)!

The hall was divided into two, and so were we!

We were given a couple of balloons per team, and our goal is to make sure no balloons touch the ground on our side. If it does, points will be deducted! So you have to hit the balloons over the net to the other side!

Ah, but there's a catch! We all had to make sure our butts never leave the ground! :D

Pastor then preached a short sermon entitled 'Rite of Passage'!

It was about how God sometimes allows problems to happen in our lives to test us!
And even though sometimes it may seem that He isn't with us, He really is!
So stand strong, because God is with you! :)

After that, we had a special skit about birthdays!

There weren't any pictures of the skit, but I can guarantee it was a good job :)

We then invited all the birthday babies from April to July out for a certain suprise..

Coincidentally, Pastor was nowhere to be seen at this point!

Where could he be? Just as we were thinking of finding him, a strange aboriginal mask-wearing man appears!

Say, doesn't his mask strangely resembles cardboard?

He claimed to be chief of this jungle, and demanded the birthday babies to pass through the jungle's Rite of Passage before they can be officially uhh, older?

However, our birthday people weren't too convinced with his fancy tribal mask :D

His tribesman scampered on the scene to assemble 3 challenges for the birthday people!

CHALLENGE 1 -

Eat a slice of lemon, without changing your expression at all!

Well, it was no challenge for our birthday people!

Their tongues have grown accustomed to the sourness, thanks to the many lemon-eating challenges they've encountered before in ALFA heheh

CHALLENGE 2 -

The men are required to blow a balloon until it pops, if they fail they'll have to stick their hands into a bottle of friendly 'jungle friends' to find a coin inside.

However, the ladies have no choice but to say hi to the 'jungle friends' and find the coin!

Surprisingly, most of the ladies managed to pass this gruesome test! Good job!

CHALLENGE 3 -

Enough of fun and games, now is the time to get dirty!

The birthday people had to dip their faces into water, then using their mouths, they had to sift through a pan of flour to find a mentos hidden inside it!

They all passed this test with breeze! Maybe because we put too many mentos in there..

And so they all passed the rite of passage, and its time for the chief to give his 'blessings' (or rather, a stripe of lipstick) XD

Of course, we promised the birthday babies cake right?

We went through the trouble to make sure every single one of them got one whole cake to themselves!

Yes, a whole cupcake! ;)

Congratulations people, for completing the rite of passage! May God bless you guys :)

Hello again!

A slight correction has been made to the previous post!

The Birthday Bash will NOT be held on 7th August, but on the 14th instead!

Why? Well because most of the poor secondary school students have replacement classes then, and we don't want them to miss out all the fun!

Sorry birthday babies, please be patient! I promise it's going to be a fun time :)

However, some good news!

ALFA Youth is still on this Saturday, so feel free to come!

Brother's Big Superhero Day

Hellooo ALFA-ians!
And yes, this is what we, the ALFA girls did to our beloved boys on their appreciation day!! :D

Yes, we blind folded them!

Brother's Big Superhero Day was organized by all the girls of ALFA to appreciate all the hard work that the ALFA guys do. :) Thank you truly, gentlemen of ALFA. This is our way of saying thanks!! :D

What exactly happened on that day??
Well, okay, let's rewind to the very start of the event!!

At the start of the event, the guys were all requested to stay in the lobby while the "ambush" team sets up for their arrival!

Chelsia took their names down while Esther and Carmen sorted them into red and blue teams by painting different respective colours on their arms. And Jewel and Abigail(cannot be seen here) would put blindfold for them!

And so, it began, the ALFA boys began to file into sanctuary 2, in tune to the sound of the Pirates of Caribbean Soundtrack in the background!

All the boys were blind folded and carefully led into Sanctuary 2.

In Sanctuary 2, the anticipation built up and finally, they were asked to remove their blindfolds and were given instructions for the obstacle course they will soon be expected to go through!

Yes, the guys were all thoroughly excited!

With the lights still all off, the guys were led into room 2 and 3 from Sanctuary 2, where they were put through their first obstacle! The SUPERICE game!

The guys were supposed to use flash lights to find words of objects that were submerged in two buckets of ice. The guys were to put their hands into the ice and to find the objects that were submerged in ice!

Needless to say, the guys had a great time rushing through this obstacle as it is a race of sorts!

Many boys testified that the ice was indeed cold and this was definitely a chilling experience!

Upon completing the first obstacle, the guys proceed to the next obstacle!
Obstacle 2 : Ceiling-Question Quest!

Due to lack of lighting, pictures taken was mostly too blur. Here is a short description of what happened...

The guys filed into the room 3 by 3 where questions were prepared and stuck onto various parts of the library walls. The room was lit by candles only with one person guarding the room. To escape the room and to continue with their obstacle course, the guys must get and answer the question correctly! :)

On to the third obstacle!
SUPERmaze! MP1 and MP2 was turned into a large maze by using plastic chairs and rafia strings! The guys were to crawl through the small spaces to get through this obstacle!

The guys! Going through the obstacle! :D Having a bang of time too!

And once they were finished, they proceeded to the final obstacle, the soft toy toss! The objective? To get at least 3 soft toys into buckets!!

And with that, they concluded the obstacle course and we moved on to the worship session.

The ALFA girls would like to take this opportunity to apologize for the lack of photos from here until the end of the event! Unfortunately, the girls were short-handed!

ALFA girls would also like to say a VERY AWESOMELY BIG THANK YOU to all ALFA guys! Thank you for being there and talking to us and also handling all the heavy and hard work for us girls! When we were planning this event, we understood the importance of you, ALFA guys! :D Thank you once again!!

Sisters' Special!

Hello fellow ALFA-ians! The long awaited update on Sisters' Special is FINALLY HERE! :D

On the 22nd of May, the men threw a very special event to appreciate all the wonderful ladies of ALFA!

The theme of that very special day was CELEBRITY!

The ladies were given the full celebrity treatment, inclusive of pesky camera-wielding papparazzis!

Here are some shots our papparazzis took as the celebrities made their entrance!

The men set up a really gorgeous ambiance for the ladies! Good job men! :D

Everything on that day was prepared by the men, including the worship team!

As the ladies were happily seated at their tables, the men had a little contest to see which table could make the best looking designer hat - out of a pile of straws!

Here's what the tables did with their pile of straws!

And the end results?

5 unique designer hats! Really creative :D

I'm sure it'll hit the fashion world one day!

The men also served up an amazing FOUR COURSE MEAL!

Who says men can't cook? :D

For starters: Shrimp Cocktail! (more like prawn cracker heh)

Next, Baguette d'ail! (more like toast with garlic butter heh)

For the main course, ladies were given a choice of either

Chicken Kiev (more like nuggets with tomato sauce)

Filet d'poulet! (nuggets too, but with chili sauce)

And finally, Gelee Pudding (more like cheapskate jelly) as the dessert!

But just before the ladies were about to strangle the men,

they prepared a very nice pasta and salad for them, specially prepared by Chef Loo!

Hope you ladies enjoyed it!

The men somehow got a magician to perform for them too! :)

The men also performed a very special dance for the ladies!

But to save the dancers' humiliation, the video won't be posted here :(

But I'm sure you ladies enjoyed it!

But most importantly, this event is to appreciate the ladies of ALFA as great blessings from God to us, because without women,
the world will be a very sad place!

Thank you ladies for just being there for us men,

for helping us out in times of need,

even for screaming some sense into us!

We love you all! :D

ALFA UNITE

Halloooo my dear ALFA-ians!

Brace yourself, because here comes the long blog post about our SJAG Youth Celebration!!!! :)

In conjunction with the ALFA Youth's Kau Movement, ALFA launched their NO PROFANITIES T-Shirt on the same day of the SJAG Youth Celebrations ; note the light blue with white font T-shirt! :)

This event took place after Sunday Service and began with a special lunch of chicken rice and drinks served in Sanctuary 2. The official event began promptly at around 2.15pm in Sanctuary 1 with ushers stationed at the entrance giving out little pieces of paper with words written on them. This will automatically allocate them into groups. BUT first comes the mixer! :)

Yes You got it right! HUMMANNNNN BINGOOO! :)

The objective? To get signatures from everybody!

How? Well, please turn your attention the paper held by Beatrice! To win, you have to form a line of signatures on the paper. It may be horizontal, vertical or a slanted line. In the boxes, there will be a criteria in which the one who will be signing to fill. For example, "Somebody with at least two moles on his/her face". Overall we had a great time.

Glad to see new faces on that beautiful Sunday evening! :)

And everybody was in on it! The top 3 fastest bingo-ers received presents and the last 5 had to do the forfeit!

After that we moved on to the grouping game!! Remember the little pieces of paper we passed out at the start of the event, well now everybody is supposed to find their own group!!

If you look closely, you will see MyVi. That is the car group! Many other groups included like kitchen utensils and clothing!

And here is Jane looking confused! A spork by the way is a combination of a spoon and a fork. Hahahah, we got you didnt we?? :) It was all good fun and after everybody got into groups, it was time to start the first game!!

So, figured out what they were doing yet? :)

Any ideas?? Keep guessing!

Alright, I will put you out of your confusedness! They are to stand together and blow and try to keep that little piece of tissue up as long as possible!!! Fun eh?

Perfect shot! Everybody did a great job although there were a few stand out groups! :)

And then we played a second game called Human Machine!! Everybody in the group was supposed to act out an electronic device/machine in a group! For example, for a blender, somebody must be the cutter, another the cover and another the cup! They can make sound effects too!

And in the end, this group won both the games! Although their representative looks a bit lost, they did win and they received the first prize!!!

After all the exciting games, everybody was settled down for a special skit presentation by some of the members of ALFA Youths!

The event was then passed on to Pastor Willard who introduced Uncle Benny, Aunty Lin, Uncle Terry and Aunty Angela who challenged the youths about commitment. Thank you so much for the support! We truly appreciate it!

All in all, it was a great event! We hope to see you again coming Saturday(15/05/10) at 2.30pm for our youth service! Expect something big to happen! :) It is worship-centered month!

And together you and your family can celebrate during dinner time! Ain't that an absolutely awesome idea?

What better way to start off the month revolving worship then inviting our very own home-grown band, Finetuned, to lead worship for the very first week? :)

how have your week been?? :)

IT HAS BEEN TWO WEEKS since the official launch of our KAU movement!

'Kau' a. & adv. - Malaysian (colloq.) from the hokkien dialect meaning concentrated. rich. intense. as opposed to blend. weak and watered-down. The Christian 'Kau' describes Christians who choose to make a point by taking a stand; not easily broken. affecting the senses of those around

amen, yo! We strive to achieve this!

Our first movement is called NO PROFANITY.

The ALFA Youths PLEDGED to speak NO PROFANITY anywhere for a week. HOW had your week been ALFA-ians? :) And now we have decided to launch it into the schools!

Only God will know where this movement will take us. Until then, keep praying for us! And keep looking forward! Last last week, ALFA youth encouraged the adults to join us too! And here are some pictures! :D
